Faith Programs

As a Catholic school, we receive many questions about the Catholic Faith and what that looks like in the school environment.  We answer some of the commonly asked questions below!

1. Does my child have to be Catholic to attend?

No! We accept ALL students no matter their background, whether it be Catholic or non-Catholic. “Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these”” Mark 19:14. Likewise we welcome all children into TCS!

2. What does the Faith component look like in the school?

All of our students participate in the Faith component of our school because it is built into our everyday routines!  In our school, you will see…

Monthly Mass (Church)

We walk to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church once a month and classes in the school take turns leading the mass!

Prayer

We pray in school! In the morning, before lunch and at the end of the day.

Religion Classes

Students participate in Religion class three times a week. Students learn about Jesus, Bible stories, the history of our Faith, and about the seasons of the liturgical year (Advent/Christmas, Lent/Easter etc.). Our Religion classes are designed so that all students have the ability to develop in their own faith, in their own personal way.

Faith Events

We host Faith events such as Face2Face every year. Students get to sing, learn about God and play amazing games and activities!

Holidays & Celebrations

We celebrate the many holidays and events throughout the liturgical year. For each one we host a celebration where a class leads an assembly, and/or we do small activities in the classroom. Some holidays and events include Advent/Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Lent/Easter, and Saint Feast Days (i.e. St. Therese, St. Valentine’s and St. Patrick’s).

3. What prayers are said in school?

Our students know that praying is just a way to talk to God, and you can pray about anything! You can pray in thankfulness, to talk about your worries, to ask God for help, or even just to tell him about your day!

Prayers you will hear at TCS include traditional prayers such as The Lord’s Prayer, the Apostles Creed, Hail Mary, and Bless Us O’Lord, and of course our school prayer. But you will also hear other prayers such as Johnny Appleseed, Jesus was a Cool Dude, and Adam’s Family Grace.
